The Sailing Club St. Moritz and the Swiss Youth Regatta Friends’ Association from Lake Constance organize the international youth match race “Prince of the Mountain” on Lake St. Moritz for the first time.

Eight European youth teams will emulate their models on the prestigious course of the World Match Racing Tour and will sail for the title “Prince of the Mountain”. Thus, the local youth team “Giachen Racing” will compete against teams from Germany, Poland, Austria, Netherlands, UK and Switzerland. They have to beat the Swiss routiniers of the Zurich team “Aloha” with the skipper Roger Stocker. The Youth Regatta Friends’ Association always invites 1 or 2 well-established teams to which the young teams can measure and gain valuable experience.

The races will be sailed on blu26 boats that were originally designed for the St. Moritz Match Race and which are also used in the Youth European Championship and the events of the Constance , match race series.
After a Match Race Clinic on 28th and 29th of August the first regatta will start Friday, 30th of August at 2:00 pm. Match racing in the Engadin is for sailors and spectators a unique spectacle due to the legendary Maloja wind and due to the possibility to sail right up to the shore at the Lake St. Moritz. Some of the participating youth teams will use this occasion as a rehearsal before the EUROSAF Youth Match Racing Championship will take place in September at the Lake Constance.
